La Tierra de Arena: Illustration & Editorial Design

As a personal project, I reimagined La Tierra de Arena, a Mexican folktale about the creation of the earth. In the story, sea creatures try to help the Lord of the Wind gather sand from the ocean floor. All fail except the turtle, who, despite her slowness, succeeds. As a reward, she becomes the first to set foot on the new land.

For this reinterpretation, I took on the entire visual development of the book. I designed the front and back covers, crafted original endpapers and illustrated key moments from the story. I also handled the editorial layout, carefully placing the text to flow with the illustrations and evoke the rhythm of a timeless tale.
